[I know how Israel can be a sensitive topic, so just stay close to my question please]

Hi all,

You know how Jews are the chosen people and how God made a promise to give them the land of Israel? As far as I know, it is based only on that idea that Israel has been created after WWII, specifically where it exists now.

But if God doesn’t exist, it means there never was a promise made to the Jewish people, so they have no reason to claim the land they have now, right? I’m not saying they shouldn’t create their own country based on their religion, they could do wathever they want. But claiming specifically the land of Israel based on the idea that a god gave it to them, is it the only reason to justify the creation of Israel where Palestine was/is? Or is there something more to that that I’m missing?
